Description
Even before the spread of metallurgy, the hard and precious wood of the olive tree could be cultivated, which made it possible to meet numerous human needs. Olive wood is an exquisite and ecological material. In Europe, the structure of this wood is considered one of the densest. It is massive, colorful, homogeneous and at the same time very difficult to process. The cultivation of olive wood is a long process and it is quite difficult to find large pieces of wood for further processing, but this is precisely why it is so valued by artists and designers.
Due to the fine porosity of the material and its antibacterial properties, the Romans used olive wood bowls to prepare medicines. Olive wood is also resistant to moisture, does not absorb odors and is easily polished with a drop of olive oil.
Bottle holders, cutting boards, cutlery or pendants - each handmade piece made of olive wood is unique. The original design of the carefully polished colored fibers turns each piece into a small work of art.
Where do you get the wood for further processing? Of course, no one wants to cut down an olive tree, but even very large branches are sometimes broken by strong winds or snow. The wood can only be processed after a long period of maturation.
